What are you suppose…

Posted in Uncategorized on August 27, 2014 by spikesworth

What are you supposed to do when the people you care about don’t actually DO anything to show you that they do?
When walking away isn’t an option because you care about them?
When making yourself think “hey ho” and soldiering on just makes you look like a pushover?
Life sure is strange presenting such problems…

The woods, the owls calling, the fire modestly warming, rustling of nearby fellow nocturnal confederates, the dirt beneath my feet…the PROMISED sleeping in sanctuary, without this world of men.

and then the other day when it rains and rains and rains

Back on my bike…

The weather tuned wet after my castle jaunt. There was much grumblings about supposed waterproof equipment, and workings out of ” is that sweat, or rain inside my jacket? ” And true to Sod’s law, every road seemed to be up hill.
Anyway, I didn’t embark on this journey for fun, although it is, I embarked on it to get a goodly slice of Real Life.
There’s heavier shiz going on in the world than struggling up hills in the pyssing rain.
Saw a rainbow…

Got to Hastings the day after. It was the town we went to on a Saturday for a dolly day out when I went to boarding school in Rye.

I only really remembered the cliffs and the fishing net drying sheds…

Stayed with my son’s Grandparents for a night. I hadn’t seen them for ten years or so!
Got some oil on my bike chain, which stopped the strange “go to the cycle doctor” sounds. Nice!
Got everything clean and dry, including me, except for my boots.  Nice!
Found out that Great Uncle Spike Milligan’s grave was along my route, so stopped off there on my way to Rye.
I didn’t see my reaction to that coming…

Although we’re only related by marriage (my step father’s uncle)
I’m not aware of what went on in my head, sitting by his graveside.
I shed some heavy tears, and not necessarily only grieving…

Some knights templers action going on in the church..
Legs crossed, and Green Man mask above each one…

Bodium Castle

Posted in Uncategorized on August 13, 2014 by spikesworth

Well, after many attempts I finally got myself to the castle.
Arrived first thing in the morning as I’d heard that the grounds are free, but it’s £8 to get in. I couldn’t say if that is true because I saw nobody collecting tickets.
Crikey it was exciting! There was just so much to draw, I didn’t know where to start. Scared of missing the best view I guess, so I circled around a few times and took a load of photos.
I got quite nervous about messing up so decided to work fast with a chunky 8B pencil, and then slap some watercolours about.
This did the job.
The only thing was that very shortly many families with young kids started arriving for some kind of “olde tyme” fun day.
Nothing wrong with that, but for some reason I found it all a little unsettling. Not having a family myself perhaps? Or, when I did have, it was certainly not the kind of family that went to things like that.
Hey ho!?
So I split just when I’d almost finished, no worries there either as I have photos to refer to.
So tomorrow I continue with the bike trip.
Always lots for an artist to do on the road! Yay!

Some More Poetry…

“Sacred Woman”

Standing, suspended, by sacred womb,
Snake arm hissing,
Encircling,
Kissing,
You.

(Speak your mind in sacred circles!)
(Speak your mind’s empiric circles!)
Look past the eyes that have no centre,
Around ourselves the air yet glitters!

Love seeks for an hour,
What is lost in a minute.
Power?
This is it!
The journey to enlightenment!
Heaven’s bliss!

Lying across her pale lips.

Anonymous in London…

So, in full ” Anoymous ” garb much fun was had attending the Palestine march.
I bought two dozen paper roses to give to the people watching us march, the tourists, shoppers, police ( only two coppers accepted, but I was surprised that two did) etc. I just wished them “Peace!” and moved on along…
Hit them with a flower!
Well, you never know, such random acts of loving awareness may just sow a seed.
Being dressed as I was I had a multitude of people asking for photos, which suited me entirely. Anything that gets the Anonymous message across has to be good. One copper asked me what the significance of the mask was! I gave him a brief summary, not being particularly fond of conversations with the boys/girls in blue. But later on I thought, what the phuch? A serving member of the Metropolitan Police Force (not a Service, as they prefer in these “newspeak days) who has no idea what Anonymous is, just shows the standard of their policing.
Next time I shall just tell them, nice and delicately, that I’ve got enough to do without doing their police work for them.
Then a young guy, only 7ish, simply walked up to me and said, ” You’re my friend. ”
And walked off!
Beautiful…

I, for myself, although I never feel any solidarity with any kind of group, be it family, party whatever, this has been the second occasion when I’ve been at complete ease in my “Outsiderness”
Now that is an ENORMOUS weight off my shoulders!!

Pictures!

And a rather cutting meme. I just had to make it as I don’t think he was doing the movement any favours, trudging out in whatever he happened to be wearing that day, and slapping a mask on. If it’s worth doing, then surely some effort is required?
